Privacy policy
Effective April 10, 2026. This Privacy Policy describes how Wadai (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information when you use our websites and services (the “Service”). This policy applies to personal information we process in connection with the Service.
1. Who we are
Wadai operates the Service and decides how and why the personal information described in this Privacy Policy is processed when you use the Service, unless we tell you otherwise in a specific context.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile: for example name, email address, password hash, UI language, region or timezone, and classroom or lesson data you create (topics, vocabulary lists, notes, and similar).
Authentication: if you sign in with Google or another provider, we receive identifiers and profile details that provider shares with us according to your settings.
Usage and device: IP address, browser and device type, general location derived from IP, timestamps, cookies and similar identifiers, and diagnostic or security logs.
Communications: messages you send us (for example support email).
We do not require access to your microphone or camera for core features, and we do not record your live lesson audio or video.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to provide and operate the Service; create and secure your account; personalize your experience; deliver transactional email (verification, password reset, classroom invites); improve and debug features; detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; comply with law; communicate about the Service and policy updates; and generate or rank content with AI when you use AI features.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar)
Where required, we rely on: performance of a contract with you; legitimate interests that are not overridden by your rights (for example securing the Service and improving reliability); your consent when we ask for it; or legal obligation.
5. Sharing
We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf under contracts (for example cloud hosting, databases, email delivery, analytics, customer tools, and AI inference). We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell your personal information for money as “sale” is commonly defined in U.S. state privacy laws.
6. International transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our vendors operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
7. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law (for example security logs or tax records).
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your request.
10. California residents
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete, and correct certain personal information, and to opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or a higher age where required by law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date above. When changes are material, we will provide additional notice as appropriate (for example by email or an in-app message).
13. Contact
